Guest speaker Sergeant Damian Bidgood is a 30-year police veteran of search and rescue in Tasmania, who has made an extremely significant contribution over his career.

Investiture Day Lunch

Friday 19th April 2024. Members are invited to join the new awardees named in the Australia Day honours list with their family and friends for lunch. The awardees are attending Government House for either the morning or afternoon investiture.

Branch Annual General Meeting

The Tasmania Branch AGM was conducted using the Zoom video communications tool.

Following the AGM we are very pleased to have the Association’s National President, the Hon Vicki O’Halloran AO CVO address the meeting.  View the video of her address here. Video length 14 minutes 40 seconds.

Vicki has been the Administrator of the Northern Territory sworn in on 31 October 2017 and more recently has been appointed to the role of Director of Advancement and Community Connections at Charles Darwin University.

Vicki was born in Burnie, Tasmania, and educated at Smithton High School and Devonport Community College.  She worked as an education officer and child care director for Circular Head Council, before moving to Darwin in 1989 where she studied for a Bachelor of Children’s Services at Charles Darwin University.  In 1993, she joined Somerville Community Services, as deputy CEO and manager, and became CEO in 1998 until 2017 when she was appointed Administrator of the Northern Territory.

In 2014, Vicki was made a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to people with a disability through roles with a range of organisations, and to the community.  She was subsequently advanced to Officer of the Order of Australia in the 2019 Queen’s Birthday Honours for distinguished service to the people of the Northern Territory, and to the disability sector through a range of executive roles.  She was appointed Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (CVO) in the 2023 New Year Honours.

North West Regional Group Reception

A Reception to Recognise Honours Recipients from the North West Region who received awards on Australia Day 2023 and King’s Birthday 2023.
