The inaugural meeting of the Tasmanian Branch was held in the Hobart Town Hall on 11th December 1980.
Formal Regional Groups were established in the North, North West and South. The three Regional Groups organise successful functions including quarterly meetings with guest speakers, informative visits to various organisations, lunches and dinners with speakers.
The State Committee organises a number of regular events including:
- “Welcome Dinners” bi-annually following each Investiture.
- A bi-annual Newsletter.
- The National Conferences in Tasmania in 1996, 2004, 2011 with the next in 2019.
One of the main aims of each Branch of The Order of Australia Association is to raise awareness about the Order of Australia and the process through which awards are granted. The Branch Office regularly distributes information to those who are seeking to submit a nomination. Forms to nominate a person who has made a significant contribution to Australian society can be obtained from the Governor-General’s website.
