Welcome to the New South Wales branch area of the Order of Australia Association.
The NSW Branch of the Order of Australia Association was officially formed on 22 July 1980. Major-General Cullen AC as President, Alderman Andrew Briger AM as Vice-President, Alderman K Cavanough AM as Secretary and Lt Col Leslie Mechtler AM as Treasurer and their Committee, laid a very strong foundation for decades to come.
Since then, over 70 members have served on the Branch Committee, giving most generously of their time to arrange functions, represent the Association in an official capacity, attend investitures, travel to regional functions and act as Directors on the National Association Committee.
The largest project undertaken by the Branch, under Chairman Alex Rigby AM, was the erecting of the Flagpole at Darling Harbour for the 1988 Bi-centenary. In the same year a donation was made to the sculpting of a statue of Queen Elizabeth II for the new Parliament House in Canberra.
